Esoterica Rare Books was founded by Dr. Justin Sledge as an extension of his work on the Esoterica YouTube Channel. People interested in the arcane in history, philosophy and religion are nearly always also lovers of antiquarian books. However, the rare book market is itself very difficult to navigate. Lending his expertise in western esotericism, Dr. Sledge began to curate a small catalog of antiquarian esoteric volumes for purchase. As interest grew, Esoterica Rare Books was established in 2024 to serve the community’s interest in these wonderful volumes. Dr. Sledge is joined by his colleague Dr. Morgan Meis in making these books available to the public.

Dr. Justin Sledge is an award winning educator and host of the popular YouTube channel Esoterica. He is one of the leading voices in the study of Western Esotericism and has been featured in numerous documentaries, podcasts and public speaking events.

Dr. Morgan Meis holds a PhD in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research in New York City. He focused his studies on the history of philosophy and completed programs in ancient Greek and Latin through the Latin/Greek Institute at the CUNY Graduate Center. He was previously editor-in-chief of The Graduate Faculty Philosophy Journal. He currently writes about culture and philosophy for newspapers and magazines including The New Yorker, Harper’s, n+1, Slate, Virginia Quarterly Review, and The Believer. He is also an editor at 3 Quarks Daily. He is the recipient of a Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Arts Writers grant and a Whiting Award in Nonfiction. He currently teaches contemporary art history and philosophy at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
