Saint Bridget of Sweden (c. 1303-1373), was a mystic, visionary, and founder of the Bridgettine Order. From a young age, she experienced vivid religious visions, including a particularly striking one where she witnessed the crucifixion of Christ with intense realism. She was a person of strong will and once confronted King Magnus Eriksson of Sweden, whom she publicly rebuked for his immoral behavior. This boldness also characterized her life and writings.

This book, Bridget's "Revelations," is a collection of her mystical experiences and divine messages. Bridget received messages about future events, including warnings about natural disasters, political conflicts, and the need for Church reform. It is a significant work in the Christian mystical tradition. She had a great influence on European art and culture and also once predicted a separate Catholic state, which is of course today known as The Vatican.
