So much so - especially the magical aspects - this text was placed on the Church’s Index of the Prohibited Books. Apparently, it was more magical than exorcism for them. A fascinating glimpse into the intersection of magic and demonic possession at the height of the Enlightenment, this text is a detailed analysis of demonic obsession, possession, exorcism and the various magic - especially amulets - by which to dispense with the devil and his hordes. Of particular interest are the magical diagrams and fold out amulets to be used in the war against Satan. The text tends to open to sections where invocations are printed indicating that this volume may have been owned and used by an exorcist. A similar edition was owned by Carl Jung and is witness to the fine line between religion and sorcery!
